Urchin
Abdul hails from the prime material world that spawned Har'akir (but not actually from Ravenloft), growing up a urchin on the streets of a great city, the only friend to his name being a mouse named Farouk, he survived by way of thievery and collecting secrets. It was through this later activity that he came into contact with the Brotherhood of Thoth, the god of knowledge and secrets, and he was recruited into its folds. Now with resources for the first time, Abdul became somewhat of a glutton, which gave him his name Fatwaif.
Abdul was sent on a mission to investigate an ancient repository of forbidden knowledge called the Amber Temple, which lay in the distant land of Barovia. Soon after arriving, Abdul realised that his link to Thoth had grown cold, and that his soul was surely trapped there. The land itself seemed hostile and inhospitable, and for once he felt that he might need help rather than go it alone.
Although this realisation discourages him, Abdul has attempted to turn his focus to his mission. He has recently been in Vallaki, trying to ascertain the location of the temple. He has heard of a witch called Baba Lysaga who might know more...
Abdul is a short, portly fellow dressed in studded leather of a foreign design that is more reminiscent of the Terg ruins in Barovia than it's current folk. Over his back is slung a wooden shield painted with an Ibis, and a similar pendant hangs from about his neck. He very fond of wine, and constantly reeks of it, and is constantly feeding scraps to his pet mouse, which he boldly claims has been with him for thirty years and has been made immortal by Thoth. Although Abdul is jaded from his time as a street urchin and the bad habits he picked up early on in life, his heart is in the right place, and he is loyal to a fault the people who help him.
